1.What is fan parts?

The electric fan, also known as a fan or fan blower, is a household appliance that uses an electric motor to drive the rotation of the fan blades to accelerate the circulation of air, mainly for cooling and circulating the air. It is widely used in homes, classrooms, offices, shops, hospitals, hotels, and other places.

2.What is the application of fan parts?

(1) Household electric fans: ceiling fans, table fans, floor fans, wall fans, top fans, ventilation fans, page-turning fans, air-conditioning fans (i.e. cooling fans), etc.; there are also shaking heads and non-shaking heads in table fans.

(2) Industrial exhaust fans: mainly used for forced air convection.

3.What is the advantage of plastic fan parts?

Plastic fan parts, whether for domestic or industrial use, are moderately priced, quiet, and easy to maintain due to the low motor load. besides, thanks to its ease of processing, can be more flexible in design, serving not only as a cooling tool but also as a decorative one

4.What’s the difference between aluminum fan and plastic fan?

(1) Aluminium fan parts are far more expensive than plastic fan parts.

(2) Aluminium fan parts are harder, so the air output is stable and strong, while plastic fan parts are soft and light.

(3) Aluminium fan parts are not easily deformed and are more durable; plastic fan parts will be deformed and the wind will not be strong enough for a long time.

(4) Aluminium fan parts are heavier in texture, so power consumption and noise will be on the high side; plastic fan parts are less powerful, so noise is on the low side, and power is also saved; plastic fan parts are recommended for use in quiet environments.

(5) Aluminium fan parts are more dangerous than plastic fan parts.

(6) Aluminium fan parts are more difficult to clean and maintain than plastic fan parts.

5.What is the material of the plastic fan parts?

Normal Plastic: PP, PE, EVA, PS; this Fan Blade usually use Nylon(PA66)

Enginnering Plastic: PA, PA6, PA66, PC+ABS, PA46, PA+30% GF, PC, ABS, POM, PBT, TPU, TUR

High Engineering Plastic: PEEK, PPS, PPO, PEI, PES, PLA, LCP, antistatic plastic, etc.

6.What is the common steel for fan molds?

Cavity & core: NAK80, S136, 2316, 2738, H13 ,718H, P20, SKD61;

Moldbase: P20, S45C, S50C.

the mold steel depends on the mold life and product quantity.

We can select the steel type according to your request.

7.What software does Kemal use to design fan molds?

UG, Pro-E, Solidworks, AutoCAD…etc

8.What is the key point to design fan molds?

The key point to design a fan mold is the selection of the sprue for the turn page, which must be chosen to ensure the same filling pressure and the same pouring distance in the mold cavity.

This is because the temperature at different locations will affect the degree of melting of the plastic. If the plastic does not melt evenly, the gravity of the airfoil will be different and the rotation will make a noisy sound. In addition, the precise centering of the fan to the outer frame ensures the stable operation of the fan.

Kemal has over 20 years of experience in fan molding and can offer the best solution for the centering of your fan products. We specialize in designing products and making molds for your fan project.

9.What’s the gate type of fan molds?

Due to the complex shape of the plastic fan parts, the thin wall thickness of the blade, and the high level of precision

required, the gate must be designed to provide quick filling and even flow.

The pointed gate allows equal flow from the gate to the outer side of each blade and ensures fulfilling fast, as well as easy venting during fulfilling, removal of the sprue with no weld marks, ensuring the appearance of the fan. In addition, the point gate facilitates the discharge of runner material and de-molding of the fan parts.

This is why the point gate is a very good gate type to make fan molds.

10.What needs to be done for the surface of fan parts?

In general, Polishing/smooth, Texture /frosted, Printing, Painting, Plating.

also, we can do it per your request.

11.How to choose the material of fan parts?

The characteristics of the plastic itself and the uniqueness of molding, such as molding heat shrinkage, cooling deformation, warpage, does not have a metal fan parts as cold correction, etc., therefore, the selection of plastic fan parts materials to ensure the use of fan parts performance and facilitate the improvement of fan parts shape accuracy, but also to facilitate molding. If crystalline or semi-crystalline plastics are used, the molding process is prone to the problem of orientation in the direction of flow, and in the cooling process, due to crystallization and orientation, the degree of shrinkage of plastic products in all directions is very different; In addition, the lack of uniform cooling and other factors are bound to produce shrinkage stresses, so that the product is deformed and cannot guarantee the required shape and size, thus reducing the accuracy and performance of the fan blade.

Other non-crystalline plastics such as polystyrene, ABS, and AS are preferable, as their shrinkage rate is relatively small. For example, ABS has good mouldability, high surface finish, and good paintability and dyeability, and can be plated in a variety of colors.

Fans are a common part of everyday life and need to be produced in large quantities. they are in close contact with people and therefore must be non-toxic, so choosing the right material for your fan product is very important for your market development.

If you have any questions about the development of your fan project, please feel free to contact us.

Kemal can help you with project development, product design, mold design, mold manufacturing, and injection molding. we are happy to add value to you.

12.How to choose the parting surface of the fan parts?

The choice of parting surface is directly related to the quality of the fan and the structure of the mold, and it is a central part of the mold design. Of course, there is no single fixed choice of parting surface. However, the selection of the parting surface should comply with the following principles.

(1) It is conducive to ensuring the quality of the fan’s appearance.

(2) The parting surface should be chosen at the largest cross-section of the fan.

(3) To keep the fan on the side of the moving as much as possible.

(4) To ensure the dimensional accuracy of the fan part.

(5) To meet the requirements for the use of the fan part as far as possible.

(6) To minimize the projected area of the fan part in the direction of the mold closing.

(7) The long core should be placed in the open direction.

(8) To facilitate the exhaust of the fan mold.

(9) It helps to simplify the fan mold structure.

(10) In the selection of an non-planar parting surface, it should be conducive to cavity processing and easy de-molding of the fan.

Kemal engineers are experienced in assessing the best mold solution for your fan part requirements or drawings to ensure the smooth running of your project. Please do not hesitate to contact us to support your fan project.

13.Why choose ABS for my fan parts?

The fan blade has the following characteristics:

(1) It is in a good working environment, at room temperature, not subject to shock loads, and not in an acidic, alkaline, or saline environment;

(2) It is used in general daily life, so the fan blade is required to be of high quality and inexpensive and does not produce any toxic side effects on the human body.

(3) The internal structure is complex and difficult to be molding.

(4) The fan part is a spatially curved molding, which makes mold making a little difficult.

(5) It has a beautiful appearance and good insulation.

ABS plastic is an acrylonitrile-styrene polymer with high transparency, antistatic properties, excellent dimensional stability, good flow properties, heat and chemical resistance, impact resistance, and high strength for injection molding, which is suitable for the nature of your fan parts.

Kemal has extensive practical experience with fan blade products and molds. If you have any questions regarding the choice of material, please contact us by message, email, or phone.

14.Why make fan parts by injection molding?

Fan parts have complex shapes, uneven wall thicknesses, high dimensional accuracy, high surface quality, and dimensional stability, and therefore high requirements for production methods.

The injection molding method has the following advantages:

There is almost no limit to complexity, allowing for different plastic cavities in the mold; fan parts can be as small as less than 1 gram or as large as several tens of kilograms, with no limits;

Thermoplastics with a suitable flow rate within a certain temperature range; the possibility of injecting high-precision fans with good surface quality and dimensional stability; medium productivity, with cycle times mainly determined by the wall thickness of the fan, which can be as short as ten seconds or less. Due to the characteristics of the fan and the advantages of the injection molding process, it is clear that the fan is suitable for the injection molding method.

15.How to solve the demolding problem of the fan part?

(1) Improve the ejector design;

(2) Adjust the mold design and increase the draft angle;

(3) Proper control of the mold temperature and raising of the mold cavity temperature.

(4) Clean the seams and stock in the mold cavity;

(5) Proper control of the injection cycle time, not too long or too short;

(6) Modifying the mold to increase the air vent.

16.Is 3D printing of fan parts cheaper than injection molding?

3D printing is ideally suited for fan parts iterations. It is a rapid prototyping technology. Fast, easy prototyping remains one of the best advantages offered by this manufacturing technology. When using 3D printing, you can print the product for testing, make all the changes using 3D printing modeling software, and then print again to confirm the changes. The flexibility of this process will help you save time and money, and it can also help you improve the design of your fan part.

Injection molding is a traditional industrial manufacturing technique. Through this process, you can create the profile of a fan by injecting material into the cavity. By injecting molten material into the mold, this manufacturing technique allows your fan product to be shaped, before the material cools down and reaches its final solid shape.

Injection molding offers the great advantage of being able to produce large quantities with a high degree of precision and perfect repeatability. by plastic injection molding, you can choose between a wide range of materials. Thousands of variations can exist for each material through additives, each resulting in different properties. Material weight, cost, flexibility, just out of plasticity, and possibilities that seem endless.

If you only need a small number of fan samples, 3D printing can be used.

If mass production is required, then injection molding is the best way to go.

17.How much does a fan mold cost?

The cost of your fan mold includes material costs, processing costs, management costs, profits, design fees, and other expenses (testing, packaging, shipping costs, etc.)

Kemal is specialized in product development, mold design, and mold manufacturing, ensuring that you get superior manufacturing and engineering design services at the lowest total cost with the highest quality molds.

18.How can Kemal save the cost on a fan project?

(1) Optimise the design of your fan parts.

Product design is the biggest factor affecting the cost of an injection mold. Whether it is your fan product concept or drawings, Kemal’s professional engineers will provide you with the best solution based on meeting your requirements.

(2) The prototyping for your fan parts.

In your fan mold project, if the mold has just been designed, but you need to modify the design, if it is a small modification, it will not affect the overall structure of the mold, if the change is relatively large that requiring a lot of additional structures and parts, then the cost will increase significantly; therefore, before making the mold, we suggest making a 3D sample for you, which can adjust and optimize the fan structure, thus minimizing the increase in cost due to fan design changes.

(3) Good communication is the most effective and direct measure to reduce the cost of your fan molds. Kemal’s experienced mold engineers with good communication skills are good at analyzing the structure of your fan parts, optimizing the mold design, reducing the amount of theoretical material, and increasing the material utilization rate, thus reducing costs.

(4) The purchasing for the steel and standard parts of your fan molds, Kemal selects suppliers with a good reputation, quality assurance, and stable prices, thus keeping mold costs well under control.

By optimizing the fan design and improving the fan mold design, professional engineers and technicians can communicate with you effectively and strictly control the material from steel to mold making.
