SLS 3D Printing Capabilities

Below are our standard SLS capabilities and tolerances. For critical features, please include CTQ notes in your RFQ so we can confirm feasibility and inspection requirements.

Surface Finishing for SLS Parts

standard bead blasting

Standard Bead Blasting

  • Removes loose powder and evens surface texture.
  • Default finish for most functional SLS parts.
  • No additional finishing required for internal or non-cosmetic components.
 
vapor smoothing

Vapor Smoothing

  • Reduces surface roughness and seals surface porosity.
  • Recommended for visible housings or parts exposed to moisture.
  • Not required for internal components or fixtures.
 
tumbling painting

Media Tumbling

  • Improves surface uniformity on small or complex parts.
  • Used when a smoother touch feel is required.
  • Limited impact on tight dimensional features.
 
uv stable coatings

Color Dyeing & Coatings

  • Adds color and improves surface appearance.
  • Used for branded housings or visual prototypes.
  • Cosmetic only; does not significantly change mechanical performance.
 
threaded inserts

Specialty Finishes

  • Secondary processes such as priming, conductive coatings, or inserts.
  • Applied based on application and assembly requirements.
  • Feasibility and impact on tolerances are evaluated during quoting.

For your 3D model, we accept these file formats: STL (.stl), STEP (.stp), IGES (.igs), or Compressed folders (.ZIP). The maximum supported file size is 10MB. For large or multiple files please place into one folder and compress into a ZIP or RAR file.
