PP Injection Molding Service

We provide injection molding service for custom PP parts from prototypes to production. Our team supports PP grade selection, DFM feedback, and process planning for shrinkage and warpage control to improve fit and repeatability. Dimensional inspection and documentation can be provided on request based on your CTQ features.

Polypropylene (PP)

Polypropylene (PP) Material Properties

Property Typical Range + Design/Molding Implication
Density
~0.90 g/cm³ — Lightweight parts reduce overall product weight and can help lower shipping cost.
Tensile Strength
25–40 MPa — Suitable for light to medium load-bearing PP components; reinforced/filled PP can be used when higher stiffness or strength is required.
Flexural Modulus
1,300–1,800 MPa — Balance of stiffness and flexibility; optimize ribs and wall thickness to control deflection and reduce sink/warp risk.
Impact Resistance
Good (grade-dependent) — Copolymer or impact-modified PP is recommended for snap-fits, clips, and parts exposed to drops or low-temperature use.
Heat Deflection Temperature (HDT)
100–110°C (unfilled) — Reliable for moderate heat environments; for higher thermal needs, evaluate filled/modified PP or alternative resins.
Chemical Resistance
Excellent — Performs well against many acids, alkalis, and cleaning agents; common for housings, caps, and fluid-contact external parts.
Moisture Absorption
<0.01% — Minimal moisture uptake supports stable processing and dimensional consistency; drying is typically unnecessary unless specified by the resin supplier.
Typical Shrinkage
1.0–2.5% (varies by grade/filler) — Shrinkage must be compensated in tooling; CTQ dimensions should be confirmed during DFM to manage warpage and tolerance risk.
Living Hinge Suitability
Excellent — Preferred for molded living hinges; hinge thickness, gate location, and flow direction should be planned to maximize hinge life.

Not sure if PP is right for your application? Our engineering team can review your design and recommend the best grade and molding approach for your requirements.

PP Injection Molding Design Considerations (Reviewed During DFM)

During quoting, our engineers review the following items in DFM to identify molding risks and recommend adjustments before tooling is released.

DFM Check Item
What We Verify (and Why It Matters)
Wall Thickness Consistency
Review wall transitions and thick-to-thin areas to reduce sink marks, voids, and warpage risk while maintaining part strength.
Draft for Ejection & Surface Finish
Confirm draft based on surface finish (smooth vs textured) to prevent drag marks, sticking, and ejection damage.
Corner Radii & Stress Concentration
Check internal/external radii and sharp corners to reduce cracking risk and improve flow stability in high-stress areas.
Shrinkage Planning for CTQ Features
Identify CTQ dimensions (fits, sealing surfaces, snap features) and plan tooling compensation to improve dimensional predictability.
Gate Strategy & Flow Balance
Recommend gate style/location to manage flow path, reduce weld lines on cosmetic/functional areas, and improve fill consistency.
Weld Lines & Cosmetic Risk Areas
Flag potential knit lines, flow marks, and air traps on visible surfaces and critical load paths, then adjust gating/parting as needed.
Rib/Boss Design for Assembly Strength
Review rib thickness, boss support, and fastening features to minimize sink/warp and improve screw retention and assembly robustness.
Snap-Fit & Flexible Feature Durability
Evaluate latch geometry and flex zones to reduce stress whitening and fatigue cracking over repeated assembly cycles.
Living Hinge Geometry (If Applicable)
Check hinge thickness, flow direction, and gate orientation to improve hinge life and reduce brittle failure.
Moisture/Drying Assumptions
Confirm resin handling requirements (typically no drying for PP under standard conditions) to avoid surface defects caused by contamination or improper storage.

Our engineering team can review your CAD files and recommend the best design adjustments for PP injection molding.

Comprehensive Plastic Part Services

We provide early-stage design for manufacturability (DFM) analysis to optimize wall thickness, draft angles, and gate placement. This helps identify risks upfront and reduces costly mold changes later.

From single- to multi-cavity and hot runner molds, we build tooling that matches your production needs. Steel selection and surface finishes ensure durability and precision over the mold’s lifetime.

We offer standard molding, insert molding, and overmolding options. Each run is monitored with scientific process controls and full batch traceability to guarantee consistent results.

Choose from painting, pad printing, laser marking, and UV coating. ABS is especially well-suited for surface finishes, making it ideal for branded housings and visible parts.

Every part goes through strict IQC, IPQC, and OQC processes. We provide dimensional reports and compliance documentation to meet international standards.

Assembly & Delivery

From sub-assemblies to custom packaging, we streamline the final steps before shipping. Global logistics support ensures your parts arrive efficiently and ready to use.
